MQ becomes an affiliate charity of Our Future Health

Our affiliate charities are sharing their expertise in the prevention, early detection and treatment of disease with Our Future Health. By joining forces, the charities are also able to shape the programme to ensure it is fit to serve the research needs of a range of diseases and conditions.
MQ
MQ is the first major charity funding mental health research into conditions such as anxiety, depression and PTSD. Through a network of supporters and researchers around the world, the charity has already funded over £23 million into mental health research and also shares resources to support those who are struggling with their mental health. MQ’s vision is to create a world where mental illness is understood, effectively treated and ultimately prevented.
Mental health conditions
1 in 4 people experience mental illness every year. While around 75% of mental health conditions start before the age of 18, they can have lifelong impacts. For those who seek help, it can take years to get a diagnosis, and even longer to find a suitable treatment. Through research, we can understand who is most at risk and find ways to provide better treatments earlier – with the potential to transform lives.
Affiliate charities
Our Future Health is joining with many of the UK’s leading health research charities who are providing valuable support and expertise to help develop Our Future Health. They will make a big impact in allowing us to ultimately change the way we prevent, detect and treat diseases.
Emily Wheeler, Director of Development and Research Partnerships at MQ, said: “We are really pleased to be working with Our Future Health on their ambitious plans to accelerate research in the UK.”
Dr Raghib Ali, CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Our Future Health, said, “We’re so pleased to welcome MQ as an affiliate charity partner. We want Our Future Health to benefit all aspects of health and diseases, and particularly mental health conditions, which affect roughly 25% of the population. Our new partnership with MQ will ensure that our programme can improve research into these conditions and the way we prevent, detect and treat them in future.”
