If you live in England, you should still attend your NHS Health Check if your doctor invites you.
Body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference
You can use the British Heart Foundation’s online tool to calculate your BMI. The tool will ask for your weight and height.
The British Heart Foundation also has guidance on why waist circumference matters.

Blood pressure
You can get your blood pressure re-checked at a local pharmacy or GP practice, depending on where you live in the UK.
- If you’re registered at a GP practice in England, you can visit a local pharmacy. You can find a pharmacy in England which offers free blood pressure checks.
- If you’re registered at a GP practice in Scotland, you can contact your GP practice.
- If you’re registered at a GP practice in Wales, you can contact your GP practice.
To learn more about what your blood pressure result means:
- residents of England can visit NHS England for guidance on hypertension and blood pressure readings
- residents of Scotland can visit NHS Inform for guidance on hypertension
- residents of Wales can visit NHS 111 Wales for guidance on blood pressure
Heart rate
The British Heart Foundation provides guidance that can help you to understand your heart rate. It includes information on what to do if your heart rate falls outside ‘normal’ ranges.
Cholesterol
The British Heart Foundation provides guidance a on cholesterol levels. It includes information on the different types of cholesterol, and the causes of high cholesterol.
The British Heart Foundation also offers online resources that explain how you can reduce ‘high’ cholesterol levels.

If you have not done so already, the next step is to complete your health and lifestyle questionnaire. You will then be eligible for a £10 voucher.
The questionnaire should take you 30 to 45 minutes. Your progress is always saved, so you do not have to do everything in one go.
