UK’s largest health research programme opens 24 new clinics in November
Mobile clinics will open in supermarket car parks in 10 new locations: Bedford, Brentwood, Chadderton, Frome, Glossop, Stafford, Stevenage, Swinton, Tadworth and Worcester.
Blood donors will be able to join Our Future Health through their regular blood donation appointment at additional NHS Blood and Transplant locations in Borehamwood, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Lancaster, Leicester, Lincoln, London, Luton, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Norwich, Sheffield, and Thetford.
Our Future Health aims to transform the prevention, detection and treatment of conditions such as dementia, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. With up to five million volunteers right across the UK, the goal is to create one of the most detailed pictures ever of people’s health.
At their clinic appointment, as well as having a blood sample and some physical measurements taken, volunteers will be offered information about their own health, including their blood pressure and cholesterol levels. In the future, volunteers will also be given the option to receive feedback about their risk of some diseases and have the opportunity to take part in cutting-edge research studies.
Working in collaboration with the NHS, the programme is sending invitations to people who live near the new clinics. Anyone over the age of 18 can join by signing up online at ourfuturehealth.org.uk, completing an online health questionnaire, and booking a short clinic appointment.

Volunteer Michelle Roberts, 46, from Dagenham, said:
“The 20 minutes we give to take part in Our Future Health goes a long way. Working in end-of-life care, I see the impact of debilitating diseases – on the patient and on their families. Anything this programme can do to improve research and treatments for these diseases will be valuable. As well as getting my measurements, cholesterol and blood pressure checked, I’m volunteering to support the research that will improve the treatment of diseases in the future.”

“With each new clinic opening, we want to give even more people the opportunity to take part in Our Future Health, particularly people who have never done anything like this before. These are the people who will benefit the most from our programme, because their participation will enable us to make new discoveries about disease within their communities. By encouraging people from every background to take part, we can make discoveries that benefit everyone.”

Our Future Health is rolling out on a region-by-region basis to invite adults across the UK to join the programme. Volunteers who don’t live near a location where Our Future Health appointments are currently available can join now at ourfuturehealth.org.uk and be notified when new appointment locations become available.
New locations will be announced on the Our Future Health website and social media channels.
