Our Future Health partners with myGP by iPLATO to invite people to join the programme

News – 3 October 2022
iPLATO will send SMS text messages and push notifications in the Greater Manchester area to invite people to join Our Future Health from October 2022.

iPLATO is a healthcare technology company based in the UK that has worked with the NHS and in UK healthcare for nearly 20 years. It is set to begin inviting people to join Our Future Health via SMS and push notifications from October.

iPLATO’s multichannel patient communication

Currently, 31 million people across the UK are connected to iPLATO communication services. Our Future Health’s partnership with iPLATO will benefit from their relationships with GP practices, whilst using their communications channels to invite patients to join the programme.

This service will ask GP practices in Greater Manchester to allow iPLATO to send their patients an invitation to join Our Future Health. Patients of GP practices who provide consent will receive an SMS text message. This is in line with the relevant data permissions, inviting them to learn more about Our Future Health and the opportunity to take part. Additionally, patients using iPLATO’s patient app, myGP, will receive push notifications.  Only myGP users with push notifications enabled on their device will receive the notification.

The myGP app connects GP practices and patients. It allows patients to make appointments, order prescriptions and view their medical records, and for doctors to communicate with their patients and conduct remote consultations. Nearly 2.7 million people use myGP across the UK.

Dr Raghib Ali OBE, Chief Medical Officer of Our Future Health, said: “We’re excited to be working with myGP as we want to make it easy for as many people as possible to join Our Future Health. Every person who joins the programme is playing an important role in helping to transform how we prevent, detect and treat diseases and we are incredibly grateful for their contribution.”

Tobias Alpsten, Founder and CEO of iPLATO said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Our Future Health to drive their patient engagement around future disease identification, prevention, and management. This ground-breaking research programme should be commonplace to all who want to support the health of future generations as involvement in this initiative advances scientists’ understanding of the most common diseases we face. This is how we better healthcare for all and is the driving principle behind everything we do at iPLATO.”

Joining the programme

Appointments to join Our Future Health are currently available in Birmingham, Bradford, Leeds, London and Manchester, with more locations to be added in the coming months. People living outside of these regions can register to be notified when appointments are available near them.
