British Heart Foundation becomes an affiliate of Our Future Health
Heart and circulatory diseases
Heart and circulatory diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke and vascular dementia affect millions of people in the UK. The British Heart Foundation has a vision for a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases and funds around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.
Our Future Health is joining with many of the UK’s leading health research charities who are providing valuable support and expertise to help develop Our Future Health. They will make a big impact in allowing us to ultimately change the way we prevent, detect and treat diseases.
Andrew Roddam, CEO of Our Future Health, said: “We’re delighted that the British Heart Foundation has joined as an affiliate charity of Our Future Health. This presents an exciting opportunity to enhance cardiovascular research, to ultimately help more people live healthier lives for longer.”
Professor Sir Nilesh Samani, Medical Director at the British Heart Foundation, said:
“We’re pleased to support Our Future Health which has the potential to unveil new insights into cardiovascular health and disease.
“Heart and circulatory diseases impact the lives of 7.6 million people across the UK and are responsible for a quarter of all deaths. This initiative could enable researchers to tap into, and capitalise on, a wealth of health data to help power the next breakthroughs in cardiovascular medicine.”
