Our Future Health joins Health Data Science Black Internship Programme

News – 24 November 2021
Our Future Health has joined the Health Data Science Black Internship Programme and will be offering paid internships to black data scientists in summer 2022.

Helping kickstart STEM careers

The programme, being run in partnership with the 10,000 Black Interns initiative, provides an exciting opportunity to help tackle the under-representation of black people within the STEM sector, offering early-career black data scientists the experience needed to kickstart their careers.

Health data science in action

In the summer of 2022, we will be offering paid internships at Our Future Health. Our interns will learn about health data science in action, contributing to the UK’s largest health research programme. They will also carry out their own research projects during this time.

Marko Balabanovic, Chief Technology Officer of Our Future Health, commented “Our Future Health is committed to tackling under-representation in health research and we’re proud to be supporting this valuable internship programme. The interns who will be joining us next year will have a unique experience and get the opportunity to make a significant impact on our programme.”

Helping transform prospects

The 10,000 Black Interns initiative has been designed to help transform the horizons and prospects of young black people in the UK. The 10,000 Black Interns programme will offer paid work experience across a wide range of sectors, providing training and development opportunities and creating a sustainable cycle of mentorship and sponsorship.

Other host organisations taking part in this initiative include:

Barts Health NHS Trust at Queen Mary University of London

Imperial College Health Partners

The Rosalind Franklin Institute

Child Health Informatics Group at University College London (UCL) Institute of Child Health
